Join us outside this summer and experience the joy of painting the figure en plein air! Painting the costumed model while enjoying the beautiful summer weather has been a time-honored activity since before the Impressionists. Why should they have all the fun? Bring a human element to your paintings while reveling in the vibrant color effects of sunlight and shadow!

We will be painting in select park locations around Portland.

Painting the figure outdoors requires that you work quickly, making accommodations for the changing light.

We will learn how to:

  1. Select a viewpoint least affected by changing light.
  2. Quickly compose and sketch your painting.
  3. Observe and paint values.
  4. Create harmonious color.
