Morning Haze, Hanalei, Kauai, 6 x 8

I never get tired of painting this view of Ha’ena from Kenomene Beach. On this trip we had rain and clouds, which made the view hazy and the colors muted. The turquoise color of the water, always so unbelievable, was pale, reflecting the sky’s gentler mood after the heat of Summer.

This was a stellar place to be on this beautiful Summer day in Portland, OR. There are not very many views of the city of Portland that are this amazing, and I could return to paint this again and again. Weather would make this interesting too….now there’s an idea!
