I love painting from life, I find it exciting to create a painting in 3 – 6 hours and I’m always curious to see what is going to happen. This model was wearing a red velvet period dress that evoked Sleeping Beauty or Snow White.  The heat from the lamp made her close her eyes, but I like the effect.  It definitely makes me think of those fairy tales I read as a young girl, where the imperious Queen was fond of saying “off with his head!”  In my own case I can remember that feeling in life of being all dressed up like the Queen of my domain but not being able to find a prince!
