The tidepools at Kapoho are a magical place, with an intensely strong light bouncing off of the waves. I stood on a sand bar island surrounded by water, rock and coral. I had slight shade from stunted naupaka tree, but I was really dealing with the wind (ever present), the sand (in everything), and the glare of the sun on my canvas. It’s one of those miracles that this painting worked out in spite of everything. A miracle painting.
