This is a famous view from Hanalei on the Island of Kaua’i. The Hawaiian name is Ha’ena, but it is nicknamed “Bali Hai” because the classic movie “South Pacific” was shot here and this view is the “Bali Hai” from the movie. This view has so many moods and variations, I would love to paint it repeatedly. It was painted in the morning with the sun full on the bluffs and the sea a dark blue. I haven’t tackled a sunset rendition, or a rainstorm view but maybe I’ll attempt those next.
