“Ha’ena Evening”, Oil on Panel, 10 x 7.5

Painting quickly always makes me uncomfortable, which means that I should do more of it. Much more. This piece was one of those uncomfortable quick paintings. Even worse, with the sun going down and the light fading. My friend Yvonne and I set up on the cliff at Pali Kekua in Princeville, HI just as evening was coming on. It had been raining all day, chasing us from location to location and we were determined to get SOME kind of painting done. This time our umbrellas really did block the rain insteadof the sun. We got very wet, but our paintings didn’t. Priorities are priorities after all.

This painting is available through Black Dog Gallery, Kilauea, Kauai
