Always wanted to learn to paint in oils? Join me for a class in the fundamentals of oil painting. This is a twelve-week progressive course designed to introduce the tools and concepts that you’ll need to work successfully in this classic and vaunted medium. We’ll use demonstrations, targeted exercises and individual attention to help you develop and apply the color, value and composition skills while creating your own painting.

  • How to draw, measure and compare with paint
  • How to use a viewfinder
  • How to see and match values
  • Basic color theory
  • How to mix color
  • How to mix shadow colors
  • Basic composition concepts
  • Light temperature and its effect on form
  • Aerial perspective in landscape painting
  • Basic linear perspective

This course is appropriate for beginning skill levels.
