Alla Prima is a wet-into-wet oil painting technique where subjects are painted quickly and in one sitting. Here, in this seven-week series of classes, we’ll explore and exploit its strengths while painting from a live model.  Using demonstrations, targeted exercises and individual attention you will gain observational skills while learning about construction, rendering anatomy, and composition.

In this class we will explore how drawing relates to painting, color and value, the effects of light and shadow, tonal methods, various modeling techniques, and how to manage a palette and mix colors. This course is appropriate for novice to intermediate and advanced skill levels.

• Drop in students are welcome!
